Job Summary

As a Tool Repair Specialist at Schuff Steel, you will play a critical role in maintaining the company's equipment and tools. Your primary responsibility will be to process and repair broken and/or damaged tools, including electrical cords, welding leads, air hoses, hammers, ladders, and other small hand tools. You will also utilize a forklift to stage materials and tools for future use, load and unload trucks with tools and materials, and operate shop tools, such as a cable winder. Additionally, you will maintain proper documentation and record keeping as it pertains to incoming tools/materials and tools/materials that are ready to be used by the field. You will also pull orders created by the field and prepare the orders for shipping.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two (2) years of experience in construction, tool repair, or general labor environment. You must also be able to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. You should have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. You must also be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. You will be required to use a forklift and various hand and power tools. You must also be able to lift at least 50lbs repetitively throughout an 8-10 hour day and spend most of the workday standing and/or walking.

Work Environment

This position is mainly done outdoors without climate control. You will be working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and efficiency. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team to achieve company goals. You will be required to maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all company policies and procedures. You will also be required to participate in ongoing training and development to improve your skills and knowledge.
