The Information Security Specialist is responsible for conducting comprehensive cybersecurity risk management framework (RMF) assessments, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and executing essential cybersecurity functions in compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing critical security requirements derived from applicable laws, regulations, and directives.
  • Supporting organizational programs through thorough analysis and mitigation of cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
  • Integrating cybersecurity protocols across various systems and programs.
  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive security documentation, including system security plans and risk management artifacts that identify, evaluate, and mitigate IT system vulnerabilities.
  • Addressing integration challenges associated with new systems and existing infrastructure.
  • Evaluating proposed systems, software, and hardware for potential security risks.
  • Staying informed on the latest trends and developments in Information Technology (IT) security.
  • Managing various RMF authorizations, including Interim Authorization to Test (IATT) and Authorization to Operate.
  • Conducting security assessments, audits, and compliance checks across multiple systems.
  • Overseeing federal budget reporting requirements and compliance with the Clinger Cohen Act (CCA).
  • Maintaining Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) records, including security controls and associated Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
  • Interpreting security requirements across different organizations and documenting findings in alignment with various frameworks.

  • Proactive problem-solving skills with a positive approach.
  • Capability to simplify and articulate complex issues to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Adept at navigating situations with limited standardization.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, adaptability, and initiative.
