Job Summary

The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Police Officer at the Northwest Ohio Developmental Center. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide law enforcement services to individuals with developmental disabilities, including crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and other support staff to develop and implement individualized plans for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as interviewing, law enforcement, mental health, and public safety.
  • Work closely with colleagues to maintain a safe and secure environment for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Valid law enforcement certification or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
