The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and electrical operations within the organization. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role plays a crucial part in ensuring that all equipment and workforce objectives are met effectively. The supervisor will set departmental priorities in collaboration with operations management, guide contractors, and foster a safety-oriented culture through various leadership techniques, including staff motivation, performance evaluation, environmental health & safety (EHS) practices, training, staffing, scheduling, and managing employee relations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a safe working environment, holding the department accountable for adhering to safety protocols.
- Support maintenance planning and reliability initiatives utilizing CMMS / Ivara systems.
- Continuously assess and enhance processes, procedures, and equipment to mitigate safety risks, aiming for a zero OSHA recordable case rate.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and motivate team members to meet departmental objectives in a timely and safe manner, while striving for continuous improvement in skills and operational effectiveness.
- Design and implement training strategies to elevate the core competencies of team members.
- Ensure robust internal controls over departmental processes and manage business risks in alignment with company expectations, including monitoring maintenance budgets and expenditures.
- Prioritize and direct departmental activities to fulfill safety, quality, production, and cost efficiency goals.
- Determine staffing requirements, equipment needs, and departmental schedules to ensure operational success.
- Develop and execute the overall departmental strategy in collaboration with Reliability to maximize equipment availability and operational uptime.
- Act as the primary liaison for mechanical and electrical contractors during major maintenance projects and shutdowns.
- Promote positive employee relations and effective communication within the department and across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing, coupled with 3-5 years of Maintenance Management experience, or 10 years of relevant manufacturing management experience; or a suitable combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of five years in a fast-paced, multi-tasking industrial manufacturing environment.
- At least three years of supervisory experience, including conducting performance reviews, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in an industrial maintenance role.
- Proficient in advanced computer applications, including MS Office.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance programs and associated diagnostic tools (e.g., vibration analysis, oil monitoring, thermography) along with the relevant software.
- Solid mechanical and electrical knowledge and aptitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
