Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Corrections Deputy to join our team at the Itasca County Sheriff's Office. As a Corrections Deputy, you will be responsible for supervising adult offenders in multiple correctional facilities, ranging from maximum to minimum security. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment in emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and control security functions and activities related to the care, custody, and well-being of inmates
  • Oversee and manage correctional facilities, ensuring a safe and secure environment for both inmates and staff
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to prevent and respond to emergencies and security breaches
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community partners to ensure effective public safety and crime prevention
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation
  • Minimum 6 months of experience working as a correctional officer in a jail, prison, juvenile facility, or military detainee services
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in direct client services, mental health, law enforcement, or protective services
