Position Summary

Responsible for ensuring timely delivery of personal and team tasks. Directly oversees and coaches assigned staff throughout the day. Ensures quality assurance of team outputs. Acts as a subject matter expert in phlebotomy, blood product collection, and compliance standards. Continuously seeks to improve existing services and influences actionable plans. Implements a customer-centric approach and systematically analyzes customer data. Understands broader organizational objectives and collaborates with colleagues and departments to achieve shared goals. Cultivates a collaborative team environment, monitors team progress against objectives, and actively supports others in reaching team targets. Tackles diverse challenges where analysis of situations or data necessitates evaluation of identifiable factors. Exhibits sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for problem-solving. Compensation

Schedule

  • Availability required from 4:00 AM to 10:00 PM, including weekends and holidays, as hours may vary daily
  • Full-time position with weekly hours
  • Schedules provided two to three weeks in advance

Responsibilities

  • Comprehends and adheres to all relevant regulatory and compliance standards.

  • Leads the donor collection team, addressing issues raised by Donor Specialists; provides feedback and follows up with team members and supervisors.
  • Ensures exceptional customer service for donors, enhancing the donation experience through professional relationship building.
  • Establishes and nurtures relationships with donors and sponsors.
  • Resolves customer issues that may have a negative impact and informs supervisors or managers as necessary.
  • Influences future blood drives through consistent conversion rates, rebooking, sponsor engagement, and service recovery.
  • Trains and mentors team members in all aspects of their roles.
  • Prepares collection sites and performs setup (including technology systems and quality control), troubleshooting and adjusting as needed; plans for future site visits.
  • Conducts donor screenings (collecting donor histories) and mini-physical assessments.
  • Performs phlebotomy, including automation (Alyx and/or Trima).
  • Prepares and packages units for transport.
  • Monitors donors for reactions, manages automation-related reactions; addresses donor needs, de-escalates situations, and mitigates risks.
  • Rebooks donors for future donation appointments and facilitates the rebooking process.
  • Transports or carpools staff as needed.
  • May transport supplies and equipment.
  • With a valid CLD, may operate mobile drive buses, adhering to all DOT guidelines, ensuring safe transport of staff, supplies, and equipment, and timely arrival at sites.
  • Leads drive setup.
  • Creates a safe environment for donors and fellow staff members, maintaining safety awareness within the team.
  • Responsible for achieving team automation goals, including recruiting and converting donors for automation.
  • Operates, troubleshoots, and performs routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintains product integrity and ensures proper identification of all donors.
  • Organizes departmental records as needed.
  • May participate in the validation of new processes or equipment.
  • Reviews daily work for accuracy, identifies and investigates potential discrepancies and unexpected results, resolving issues where appropriate.
  • Reviews quality results and escalates issues and concerns as necessary.
  • Conducts root cause analysis, review, and reporting with leadership.
  • Utilizes SOS for troubleshooting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma required
  • GED required

Experience

  • 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience preferred
  • A combination of a healthcare degree and certification is required
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience typically required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills and sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, safety rules, and maintenance instructions.
  • Basic mathematical aptitude required.
  • Ability to apply judgment to written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to organize work for productive workflow.
  • Flexibility to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
