As an integral part of our team, the Animal Care Support Specialist (Cage Maintenance)
is responsible for executing essential tasks that ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the cage maintenance areas on campus. This role includes, but is not limited to, the scrubbing of cages, thorough washing of cages and their accessories, and efficient packing of clean equipment.
Compensation: $25.66 per hour
Essential QualificationsMandatory:
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver cage racks containing animals.
- Proficient communication skills in English, both spoken and written, to convey information accurately and promptly.
- Basic computer proficiency to complete required online training modules.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, Forms, and Training Checklists related to the cage maintenance area.
- Willingness to participate in weekend and holiday work rotations, as well as occasional overtime responsibilities.
Desirable Qualifications (Training Provided):
- Familiarity with cage maintenance equipment, including but not limited to rack and tunnel washers, bedding dispensers, bedding vacuums, water filling stations, and sterilizers.
- Awareness of safety protocols in the cage maintenance area, including ergonomics and allergy risks.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all cage maintenance areas and their respective equipment, enabling efficient organization, sorting, and processing of soiled items, as well as the safe packing of clean equipment.
- Understanding of cleaning and sanitizing agents and techniques sufficient to uphold a hygienic environment.
- Ability to maintain accurate records in accordance with proper documentation standards.
