Nurse Specialist

Job Summary
The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in the Labor and Delivery department at Knapp Medical Center. This role requires a skilled and compassionate nurse to provide care to mothers and newborns during the antepartum and postpartum periods.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
- Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel.
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients and visitors.
Qualifications
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
- BLS certification within 30 days and maintain current.
- ACLS certification within 90 days and maintain current.
- NRP certification within 90 days and maintain current.
- Basic Fetal monitoring within 60 days of hire and maintain current.
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 12 months.
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate preferred.
- STABLE preferred.

Knapp Medical Center is an award-winning, not-for-profit hospital in Weslaco, Texas. With 227 beds, the community hospital specializes in emergency care, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, wound care, surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology.
Knapp serves as the only acute care hospital in the Mid-Valley area, as well as Weslaco's only Level III Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and Level II Newborn Nursery.
Knapp has been providing quality and compassionate healthcare to Mid-Valley residents for 60 years. More than 300 physicians serve on the hospital's medical staff. Knapp also serves as one of the largest employers in the Mid-Valley, employing more than 450 people.
