Nursing Education Manager Job Description

The Nursing Education Manager at Loretto is responsible for developing, planning, and implementing clinical training programs and projects. This role requires a strong educational background and experience in nursing, with a focus on creating a positive educational environment that adheres to best practice care delivery standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with management to evaluate and prioritize clinical training and educational processes, ensuring alignment with current education/competency standards, regulatory requirements, and quality initiatives.
  • Manage educational projects from concept to classroom, creating and overseeing the distribution of a monthly calendar of in-service events.
  • Develop and maintain educational materials, including instruction manuals and training tools, to support existing in-service programs.
  • Collaborate with interdepartmental committees to establish best practice standards and job success programs, promoting the recruitment of qualified candidates.
  • Develop, lead, and participate in orientation processes and activities for new clinical employees, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of educational programs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing modifications as necessary.
  • Collaborate with management and staff to address problem areas, promoting improved care delivery and services.
  • Assist in developing, directing, and scheduling yearly competencies and training, ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Oversee the documentation of in-service and training activities, maintaining accurate records and tracking employee attendance.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to monitor the effectiveness of existing policy and procedures related to care delivery, initiating modifications and supplemental training as required.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and currently licensed in NY.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MSN or Master's Degree in nursing, education, or related study preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years combined experience in an acute care facility and/or caring for the elderly, including a minimum of 3 years teaching experience.
  • 3 years managerial or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of DOH and applicable third-party regulations.
  • Experience with the state survey process.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and a demonstrated ability to lead, guide, and motivate others.
  • Outstanding presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, staff, families, and support agencies.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office programs and able to learn new software rapidly.
