Role Overview

As a PM or Senior PM specializing in Traffic Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing a variety of traffic engineering projects for diverse clients, including public entities, private firms, and institutional organizations. Your role will involve various facets of traffic engineering design, including but not limited to traffic signal systems, signage and pavement markings, worksite traffic management, traffic impact assessments, operational analyses, safety evaluations, parking studies, signal timing, and coordination, along with other planning and operational initiatives. Effective collaboration with other transportation or site infrastructure projects will be crucial, necessitating strong communication and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will manage multiple projects, ensuring technical excellence and coordination across a wide range of tasks. You will work closely with supervisors to provide essential design, coordination, and follow-up to meet agency requirements and uphold quality standards. Your responsibilities will include preparing traffic engineering construction documents, technical reports, calculations, cost estimates, and specifications to guarantee clear and coordinated interpretations of designs for construction. You will lead site inspections, client consultations, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes, and agency coordination to secure necessary approvals while remaining informed about local regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will develop and oversee project schedules, budgets, scopes of services, and supplementary services, while monitoring expenditures and suggesting corrective measures.

As part of your duties, you will supervise, mentor, and train the technical engineering team. This includes assigning projects to engineers with defined timelines, providing technical support, and reviewing the work of assigned personnel. Setting objectives and assessing staff performance will also be integral to your role. Furthermore, you will support or lead business development and marketing initiatives, including planning, contract negotiations, presentations, proposals, RFPs, RFQs, recruitment, and interviews.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and hold a Professional Civil Engineer (PE) and/or Traffic Engineer (TE) license/registration in California. A minimum of 2 years of management experience in engineering and design, with a focus on traffic engineering, is required. Candidates should demonstrate expert technical knowledge of traffic and transportation engineering principles, practices, and procedures, along with proven experience in preparing technical reports, designs, specifications, and calculations. Familiarity with local design protocols, regulatory compliance, and agency coordination, as well as a comprehensive understanding of schedule, budget, and scope management, is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with software tools such as Synchro/SimTraffic, Agi32, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or VISSIM is highly desirable.
