Job Summary:

A Pediatric Respiratory Therapist provides specialized respiratory care to infants, children, and adolescents with respiratory conditions. They assess, diagnose, and treat patients experiencing respiratory issues such as asthma, chronic lung diseases, and other acute or chronic conditions affecting breathing. Pediatric Respiratory Therapists collaborate with pediatricians, pulmonologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of pediatric patients.

In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing respiratory conditions in pediatric patients, including newborns, infants, children, and adolescents. You will administer therapeutic treatments, such as oxygen therapy, inhaled medications, aerosol treatments, and chest physiotherapy. Additionally, you will perform and interpret diagnostic tests, such as pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gas analysis, and bronchopulmonary assessments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and Manage Respiratory Conditions: Assess, diagnose, and manage respiratory conditions in pediatric patients, including newborns, infants, children, and adolescents.
  • Administer Therapeutic Treatments: Administer therapeutic treatments, such as oxygen therapy, inhaled medications, aerosol treatments, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Perform Diagnostic Tests: Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, such as pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gas analysis, and bronchopulmonary assessments.
  • Develop Care Plans: Collaborate with pediatricians, pulmonologists, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting assessments, treatments, and progress.
Requirements:
  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Certification: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
  • Experience: Prior experience in pediatric respiratory care is preferred.
