Rochelle Community Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting the pharmacist in the daily operations of the pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the pharmacist in filling Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM's), Unit Dosing medications, and accessing the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Provide support for the staff pharmacist(s) on duty, including pulling medication for ADM fills, preparing IV and IVPB Solutions, and delivering medications to nursing units.
- Maintain the system for pharmacy floor stock items, including filling departmental requisitions and delivering them to the appropriate department.
- Restock the ADM's, process charges as requested, and complete and document monthly nursing unit drug storage area inspections.
- Assist in initiating appropriate forms for pharmacist's clinical, pharmacy care, and patient education duties.
- Maintain inventory control, including duties related to the purchase, receiving, and possible return of all pharmacy items except for DEA Class II controlled substances.
- Review and receive invoices, document when products are received, and maintain an easily retrievable filing system.
- Accurately comply with all documentation as required by the policies and procedures of the department.
- Responsible for organizing and preparing for the annual pharmacy physical inventory.
- Maintain the pharmacy night cabinet and check all drug storage areas for expiring medications monthly.
- Assist the Director of Pharmacy in gathering data needed for the departmental Performance Improvement Plan.
- Maintain high standards of environmental cleanliness in the department and keep up to date with departmental and hospital-wide developments.
- Maintain competency by completing departmental staff skills and development programs and attending all mandatory hospital in-services.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid, active Pharmacy Technician's License in the State of Illinois.
- Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Board.
- Pharmacy Technician Experience Required.
- Hospital Pharmacy Technician Experience Preferred.
The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Demonstrates the ability to work accurately and effectively in oral and written directions and communication.
Enjoys working with people and works cooperatively with other hospital staff.
