Optical Dispenser

Covenant Physician Partners is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optical Dispenser to join our team in Van Nuys, CA. As a key member of our community-oriented team, you will be responsible for all dispensing and optical activities, including technical procedures, bench work, and allied optical procedures.

• Assist patients with selecting eyewear, making facial measurements and adjustments as necessary to properly fit glasses.
• Interview patients to determine visual needs and interpret refractionist's prescriptions.
• Instruct and counsel patients on proper methods of eyeglass care.
• Enter prescription and sales information into computerized systems and perform all other clerical functions required to satisfy patient needs.
• Verify Optical Benefit coverage and dispense and adjust optical products.
• Inspect final products for accuracy in accordance with prescription requirements and original orders.
• Reconcile patient concerns to their satisfaction and perform all other dispensing functions consistent with accepted professional standards.
• Practice as authorized by the California Board of Medical Examiners and organizational policies and practices.
• Conduct daily inventory of frames and accessories as required and perform necessary shop work, including cutting, edging, dyeing, and mounting of lenses.
• Repair frames as required and complete all required forms.
• Maintain written and verbal communication with labs as required and perform customer service and floor coordinating duties.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years' experience as a dispensing optician strongly preferred.
• Graduate of an opticianry/optician training program or on-the-job training.
• ABO Certified and licensed preferred.
• Previous experience with Eligibility and Authorizations preferred.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is required.
• Must be able to work Saturdays.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to operate a variety of medical equipment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Computer skills for use with electronic medical records and inventory systems.
• Ability to work with co-workers in a team setting.
• Good hand-eye coordination.
• Strong aptitude for mathematics.
• Patient and with attention to detail.
