Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Transportation Equipment Maintenance Specialist to join our team at OmniSource. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine PM service on all transportation equipment, including yard maintenance vehicles, and performing DOT safety regulated repairs as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and Repair Basic Engine Components: Conduct thorough inspections of engine components, identify areas of wear and tear, and perform repairs as needed to ensure optimal performance.
- Electrical Troubleshooting and Repair: Use advanced diagnostic tools to identify electrical issues and perform repairs to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Tire and Brake Maintenance: Perform routine tire checks, change tires as needed, and make brake adjustments to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Preventative and Corrective Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on truck and trailer equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Maintenance Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete maintenance records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Operational Support: Operate forklifts, drive trucks and trailers, and perform other tasks as assigned to support the maintenance team.
- Housekeeping and Safety: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhere to safety protocols, and follow good housekeeping standards.
- Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed to support maintenance and repair operations.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and make recommendations to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Safety and Compliance: Maintain a strong understanding of industrial safety and OSHA guidelines, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in heavy duty truck maintenance, with a strong understanding of DOT truck maintenance requirements.
- Safety and Compliance: A clear understanding and adherence to safety regulations, with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Physical Demands: Ability to work in all types of weather conditions, and to lift 50 lbs. or more consistently.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to read schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Welding and Fabrication Skills: Strong welding and fabrication skills, with the ability to perform tasks as needed to support maintenance and repair operations.
- Teamwork and Flexibility: Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a strong commitment to flexibility and adaptability.
- Class A CDL License: Class A CDL license a plus, but not required.
