Job Title: Respite Worker

Job Type: Part Time

Pay: $17.25-$20.05/hourly, depending on the number of clients.

Job Description:

As a Respite Worker with Friends of Children with Special Needs, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals with special needs in their own homes.

  • Establish a supportive relationship with participants and their families.
  • Provide care, supervision, and support to protect the consumer's safety in the absence of a family member.
  • Engage participants in their choices of activities in the absence of a family member.
  • Assist with basic self-help needs and other activities that would ordinarily be performed by the family member.
  • Provide intermittent or regularly scheduled temporary non-medical care and supervision at the consumer's own home.
  • Respect the privacy of participants and maintain confidentiality of information obtained in the course of professional services.
  • Minimize health, safety, and other risks to the well-being of participants.
  • Perform first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other emergency services as appropriate.
  • Provide continuous supervision for participants, ensuring their safety and meeting their needs.
  • Prepare special incident, child abuse, and adult dependent abuse reports as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with the Program Coordinator regarding participant issues.
  • Foster maximum self-determination on the part of participants.

  • Must pass background fingerprint clearance.
