Job Summary

The Clinical IT Pharmacy Manager will play a crucial role in enhancing patient outcomes, patient safety, and operational efficiency by developing solutions to improve the medication use process. This role will collaborate with key stakeholders to integrate these solutions into electronic medical records (EMR) and other relevant technologies used in the designated areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise pharmacy technology applications, including monitoring the core EMR system and managing the pharmacy drug database.
  • Oversight of the Automated Dispensing System, Smart Infusion pump libraries, the automated crash cart tray system, and the pneumatic tube medication tracking system.
  • Manage, maintain, and monitor all pharmacy information systems.
  • Analyze data from various systems to generate reports.
  • Monitor billing accuracy.
  • Coordinate pharmacy IT problem resolution with support services.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle to maintain and update CDM codes.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance of the pharmacy applications.
  • Manage order sets.
  • Assist staff training in pharmacy applications.
  • Support the implementation of programs that improve the quality of pharmaceutical services.
  • Develop policies and procedures as needed.
  • Customize software.
  • Plan, implement, and test software upgrades.
  • Develop, test, maintain, and troubleshoot interfaces between clinical information systems.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a current license to practice as a registered pharmacist in New York State.
  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hospital experience.
  • Knowledge of Meditech and Pyxis preferred.
  • Hospital Pharmacy Management experience preferred.
