Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Histotechnician to join our team at Baylor Scott White Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and monitoring a variety of anatomic procedures and processes, assuming responsibility for problem resolutions, and training others on all aspects of the department with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of technical procedures resulting in the creation of microscopic slide preparations.
  • Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
  • Recognize and take appropriate action when established procedures and policies are not followed.
  • Perform instrument maintenance, maintain appropriate inventory of supplies, and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
  • Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
  • Demonstrate and educate laboratory methods, technical skills, and provide direction to others.
  • Perform all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director. Assume leadership responsibility in the absence of Supervisor/Manager.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols, and procedures.
  • Statistical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
  • Ability to perform laboratory protocols and procedures.
  • Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
  • Fosters a positive and productive work environment that furthers the quality and effectiveness of patient care.

Qualifications
  • EDUCATION - Diploma/GED Equivalent.
  • EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience.
  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - ASCP-Histotechnician (ASCP-HT), ASCP-Histotechnologist (ASCP-HTL): Must have one of the following: ASCP-Histotechnician, ASCP-Histotechnologist.
