School Counselor

Job Summary:

Glenwood Academy is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Counselor to join our team. As a School Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal development of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and Implement Academic and Personal Development Programs: Design, implement, and evaluate academic and personal development programs that cater to the diverse needs of our students.
• Provide Guidance and Support: Offer individual and group counseling to students, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.
• Collaborate with Teachers and Staff: Work closely with teachers and staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans that meet the unique needs of each student.
• Monitor Student Progress: Regularly monitor student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and developing strategies to support student growth and development.
• Communicate with Parents and Guardians: Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of student progress and providing support and guidance as needed.
• Stay Up-to-Date with Best Practices: Stay current with best practices in academic and personal development, attending professional development opportunities and staying informed about new research and methodologies.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in an applicable field, such as counseling or education.
• Certification: Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Certificate with an endorsement in Counseling.
• Experience: Three previous years of counseling experience, preferably in a school setting.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the flexibility to move around the school and classroom.
