Job Summary

Responsible for the overall maintenance of the physical plant, under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and Community Manager. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail to ensure the upkeep of facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in all types of maintenance projects, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment, fixtures, and appliances.
  • Assist in custodial work, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning common areas.
  • Assist in grounds work, including landscaping and grounds policing.
  • Repair concrete, masonry, roofing, and fencing as needed.
  • Train other staff members on maintenance procedures and protocols.
  • Participate in a standby emergency schedule for evening, weekend, and holiday coverage.
  • Be responsible for stock control and utilization of maintenance materials.
  • Assist the resident manager in scheduling annual apartment inspections and refurbishing apartments prior to resident occupancy.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on all equipment based on manufacturer's recommendations and operating manuals.
  • Periodically inspect all units, buildings, and common areas, performing repairs and janitorial assistance as scheduled.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); prior maintenance experience or experience in a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable.

The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
