We are currently seeking a skilled professional to join our Environmental team at our Chocolate Bayou Plant. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the site’s environmental performance, focusing particularly on air quality initiatives.

This position requires an individual with a solid understanding of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and a commitment to continuous improvement in operational practices. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with technical, operational, and maintenance teams to address environmental challenges and implement enhancements.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards, develop site-specific procedures, and promote sustainable practices.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, preparing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Analyze environmental regulations to assess applicability and formulate strategic approaches.
  • Secure all required environmental permits to facilitate site growth initiatives aligned with business objectives.
  • Communicate environmental concerns effectively with the Environmental team and Site Leadership.
  • Identify and assess key environmental risks, collaborating with leadership to create comprehensive annual risk management plans.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with various departments to translate environmental challenges into actionable solutions.
  • Design and implement environmental training programs for staff.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively participate in site environmental projects, ensuring adherence to EPA and TCEQ air quality regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of permit applications and amendments.
  • Manage the acquisition and renewal of environmental permits from relevant authorities.
  • Monitor compliance metrics and develop systems for performance enhancement.
  • Maintain environmental management systems to align with permit requirements and air quality standards.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports related to emissions and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee regulatory inspections and inquiries, ensuring compliance with both company and regulatory standards.
  • Provide leadership in preventing environmental incidents and conducting root cause analyses.
  • Promote ongoing development of environmental knowledge and skills among employees.
  • Contribute to the annual update of the strategic environmental plan.
  • Cultivate a culture of environmental excellence through leadership engagement and employee accountability.
  • Ensure robust environmental processes are in place across the site.
  • Maintain positive relationships with communities and regulatory agencies through active engagement.
  • Participate in environmental audits at the plant and other facilities.
  • Support compliance activities across various environmental media as required.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • Reports to the Environmental Manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
  • At least 3 years of post-graduate experience in air quality compliance within the chemical or petrochemical sectors.
  • Experience in environmental compliance consulting in relevant industries.
  • Familiarity with Texas state and federal operating permits.
