Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Ochsner Health System. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. This role requires a strong understanding of anatomy and pathology, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities- Verify physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy
- Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
- Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
- Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol
- Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards are met
- Complete timely quality control procedures and perform notification/remediation as warranted
- Assist in the facilitation of departmental operations, including inventory, staff schedules, and equipment maintenance
- Completion of a CAHEA-approved formal training program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible (required within 1 year of hire)
- Advanced certification in area(s) of specialty according to facility need
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing situations. The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds. The work environment is a clinical setting with exposure to communicable diseases.
