Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents and supervising the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. This role requires a strong understanding of nursing and medical practices, as well as the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants
  • Meet with nursing staff and support personnel to plan shift services, programs, and activities
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required
  • Provide leadership to nursing personnel assigned to your unit/shift
  • Complete and file required recordkeeping forms/charts upon resident admission, transfer, and/or discharge
  • Prepare and administer medications as ordered by physicians
  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel and other departments within the facility
  • Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy and that nursing service personnel knock before entering resident rooms
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with a current unencumbered state license
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Experience in Long Term Care is preferred
Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include being able to move intermittently throughout the workday, coping with the mental and emotional stress of the position, and meeting the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility.
