Overall Objective of Position:

The Community Engagement Specialist is tasked with providing comprehensive case management services related to sexual violence, alongside facilitating volunteer training initiatives. This role is non-exempt and includes supervisory responsibilities for certain volunteers.

Reports to:

County Supervisor

Office Location:

The primary workspace is based in a central location, with potential travel required to various counties within the service area on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Ethical & Professional Conduct:

  • Participate in relevant meetings, consultations, and strategic planning sessions.

  • Assist with general office tasks as needed, including answering phones and filing.
  • Contribute to special projects and assignments as directed by the Executive Director or Supervisor.

Primary Duties:

  • Manage an active caseload of approximately 15-20 clients, providing support through various communication methods.
  • Offer client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive crisis intervention and direct services to victims and survivors of sexual violence.
  • Organize and lead training sessions for staff and students on prevention education and awareness.
  • Provide clients with information on safety planning, the dynamics of sexual violence, and related topics.
  • Document services accurately using various reporting tools to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
  • Offer legal advocacy, including assistance with protective orders and support during legal proceedings.
  • Conduct community education initiatives to raise awareness about available services.
  • Coordinate client services with staff and volunteers to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Report programming issues and trends to the County Supervisor.
  • Ensure timely completion of statistics and reports for board meetings and grant writing.
  • Schedule regular program meetings to discuss client concerns and professional development.
  • Maintain a commitment to continuing education, completing a minimum of 20 hours annually.
  • Provide 24-hour response support to survivors at various locations, sharing on-call responsibilities with other staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director or County Supervisor.

Community Relations:

  • Network with relevant systems and represent the organization at interagency meetings.
  • Assist with community education and professional training initiatives.
  • Promote services to community agencies to encourage referrals.
  • Engage in public speaking and evaluate educational programs.
  • Attend statewide networking meetings as appropriate.

Professional Development:

  • Stay informed about legislative changes affecting service areas.
  • Participate in ongoing training and staff in-services.

Development Program Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate fundraising efforts and manage donor relations.
  • Assist with annual communications and outreach initiatives.
  • Engage in additional development tasks as time permits.

Volunteer Advocacy Program Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and train volunteers for advocacy and support roles.
  • Develop awareness plans for the volunteer program.
  • Ensure compliance with training requirements and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Provide regular reports on volunteer statistics and activities.
  • Facilitate ongoing training and meetings for volunteers.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, criminal justice, or a related field; or equivalent experience totaling four years.
  • Minimum: Associate degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience totaling two years.
  • Demonstrated competency in the responsibilities outlined above.
  • Strong understanding of issues related to sexual violence at both individual and community levels.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent advocacy, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
