Job Summary:


As a Recreational Therapist, you will provide evaluation and treatment to patient populations, developing and implementing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the treatment team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, analyzing data to inform treatment planning and interventions.
  • Develop and document individualized treatment plans, identifying short- and long-term goals and interventions in compliance with department policies and protocols.
  • Implement treatment plans, facilitating interventions to restore, remediate, or rehabilitate patients' functioning and increase independence.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and document patients' discharge/transition plans, ensuring a smooth transition to post-acute care.
  • Document and report patients' response to interventions, re-assessing and evaluating progress towards goals, modifying treatment plans as necessary.
  • Provide clinical education and supervision to staff, interns, and other disciplines, participating in competency assessment and enhancement activities.
  • Participate in quality improvement and resource management activities, developing and coordinating specialized programs for specific clinical service areas.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreational Therapy, including an internship.
  • Licensed as a Recreational Therapist by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure (NCBRTL).
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).

Job Details:

  • Employed by UNC Health, a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System.
  • Exempt from overtime.
  • Variable work schedule.
  • Onsite work assignment.
  • Location: US:NC: Smithfield.
