Position Overview

The Surgical Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of surgical suites, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and the achievement of clinical objectives. This role involves providing leadership within the assigned service line(s) and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the operations of the operating room (OR) and act as a subject matter expert for the designated specialty or service line(s).
  • Facilitate effective communication between the OR and other departments.
  • Identify and address challenges impacting patient care delivery within the assigned service line(s).
  • Supervise processes and protocols to ensure the safe and efficient provision of healthcare services.
  • Collaborate with physicians, leadership, and staff to optimize the use of equipment, supplies, and personnel.
  • Maintain clinical proficiency and may step in as a frontline staff member when necessary.
  • Contribute to the recruitment, training, guidance, and evaluation of team members.
Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer, accepted from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Required Credentials:

  • Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant credential from the National Assistant at Surgery Certification.
  • Registered Nurse license.
  • Surgical Assistant certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
  • Surgical Technologist certification from the NBSTSA, with specific experience requirements for non-certified applicants.

Education:

  • High School diploma with 2 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's/Technical degree with 1 year of experience, or 5 years of applicable job-specific experience.
