Pediatric Quality Improvement Nurse

The Pediatric Quality Improvement Nurse plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of care for pediatric patients. This position involves:

  • Coordinating pediatric quality initiatives: Collaborate with clinical teams to improve the overall care provided to young patients.
  • Facilitating performance enhancement activities: Lead and support efforts aimed at improving pediatric care outcomes.
  • Acting as a liaison: Serve as a connection point for both in-hospital and out-of-hospital pediatric care programs.
  • Conducting educational programs: Organize and facilitate training sessions focused on pediatric care for hospital staff.
  • Ensuring competency evaluations: Oversee that nursing staff complete relevant initial and annual competency assessments tailored to pediatric care.
  • Promoting disaster preparedness: Advocate for and participate in initiatives that prepare the hospital for pediatric emergencies.
  • Supporting out-of-hospital education: Provide resources and assistance for the education of external pediatric care providers.
  • Data abstraction: Assist with both concurrent and retrospective data collection for pediatric chart reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or a related health field
  • Experience in clinical performance improvement initiatives
  • Proven leadership in project management and team collaboration
  • Completion of the Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course (TOPIC) within the first six months of employment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) navigation
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 coding
