Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Banking Officer to join our team. As a Commercial Banking Officer, you will be responsible for developing and growing commercial relationships with new and existing businesses, including loan and deposit accounts. You will create sales opportunities and partner with others to cross-sell business products and services, increasing membership and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview members applying for commercial loans, deposits, and services, making decisions within authority and providing recommendations and referrals when appropriate.
  • Recommend, educate, and sell Magnifi Financial products and services to members, expanding member relationships through follow-up activities and making referrals to appropriate departments.
  • Tend to work directly and indirectly with medium and moderately complex loans, making credit decisions within lending authority and providing recommendations on loans above lending authority.
  • Assist members and lending staff applying for government and third-party sponsored programs, such as SBA, FSA, and other loan programs.
  • Review financial information with members, identifying concerns, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Work with the credit function to complete credit presentations, financial analysis, and risk ratings on existing and prospective credits.
  • Develop and maintain a moderately complex commercial deposit, loan, and services portfolio that meets organizational guidelines and maximizes return on equity and asset goals, while minimizing risk to Magnifi Financial.
  • Pursue new business relationships by seeking new and existing prospects in the market to ensure sufficient new loan, deposit, and service volumes are met.
  • Use the sales process to identify and recommend Magnifi Financial products and services to members based on financial need, making referrals to appropriate departments.
  • Perform loan closings with members, ensuring all paperwork is properly completed and complies with legal regulations and Magnifi Financial policies.
  • Perform collections/negotiations on problem member commercial loans.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Banking Officer I and III positions to assist with commercial banking products and services and the possible transfer of accounts when lending account thresholds are achieved.
  • Assist in training, mentoring, and providing functional guidance to other Commercial Bankers and staff.
  • Keep abreast of rules, regulations, and Magnifi Financial policy relating to member commercial loan and deposit accounts.
  • Actively participate in community relations efforts to contribute to the mission and visibility of Magnifi Financial, ensuring positive relationships with members, community leaders, and businesses.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Banking Officer with a Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or equivalent, and at least eight years of commercial banking experience or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through a minimum of ten years related work experience.
