Join Our Team as a Postdoctoral Researcher

The University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for two postdoctoral positions in the Department of Integrative Biology and the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology. Our team is led by Dr. Christopher Martin, Associate Professor and Curator of Ichthyology, and we are seeking highly motivated individuals to contribute to our research on adaptive phenotypes in a radiation of trophic specialist pupfishes.

Job Description:

  • Design and execute experiments to investigate the evolution of adaptive phenotypes using advanced genomic and functional approaches.
  • Collaborate with our team to analyze and interpret large datasets to identify patterns and trends relevant to our research goals.
  • Develop and maintain laboratory protocols and procedures for working with genetically modified organisms.
  • Publish research findings in top-tier scientific journals and present results at conferences.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biology, evolution, genetics, development, bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Strong publication record based on dissertation work.
  • Specific expertise in population genomics, functional genetics, or craniofacial development.

Salary and Benefits:

  • A competitive salary of $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
  • A multi-year appointment with an initial 24-month term and the possibility of renewal for three more years.
  • Opportunities for fieldwork in Mexico (previous experience not required).
  • Research funding provided by NIH NIDCR R01 and NSF CAREER grants.
