Job Title: Security Specialist

Join Haverhill Public Schools as a Security Specialist and play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for our students and staff.

Job Summary:

The Security Specialist will be responsible for enforcing visitor management procedures, maintaining visitor logs, and communicating directions to unauthorized persons. They will also report any discipline infractions, unauthorized visitors, and acts of vandalism to the Principal, Assistant Principals, and/or Supervisor of Security immediately.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce visitor management procedures and maintain visitor logs
  • Communicate directions to unauthorized persons and report any discipline infractions
  • Monitor electronic security camera activity and communicate any questionable activity via the radio system
  • Check assigned areas of the building and school grounds to prevent theft, vandalism, and other unlawful acts
  • Operate two-way radio devices with other security specialists, school resource officer, and administrators
  • Observe student behavior to prevent altercations or disorder
  • Render assistance within the school building whenever necessary
  • Help direct teacher, visitor, parent, and student traffic flow throughout the school day and during loading and unloading buses
  • Supervise student activity on school grounds and protect school property
  • Interpret and enforce Haverhill Public School policies and procedures
  • Participate in security unit meetings and in-service training
Requirements:
  • High School graduate with some post-high school education preferred
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must be physically fit and capable of performing duties
  • Ability to communicate with young people and set limits without being antagonistic or abrasive
  • Basic First Aid knowledge and CPR Certified preferred
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred
Working Conditions:

The Security Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interactions with students, staff, and visitors. They will be required to work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor areas. The Security Specialist must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
