Position Overview

The Plant Helper/Laborer will play a vital role in supporting production efforts, performing general labor tasks, maintaining plant cleanliness, assisting with routine maintenance of equipment, and providing support across various areas of the plant as required. This position primarily operates on the night shift, with potential schedule adjustments based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment, including shoveling spillage areas, lubricating machinery, monitoring plant conveyors, shakers, crushers, feeders, and pumps, conducting heavy ground maintenance, and performing daily inspections of the plant.
  • Maintain yard and equipment cleanliness.
  • Clean conveyor belt areas and perform minor preventive maintenance, replacing worn or damaged components as necessary. Assist with additional maintenance tasks as required.
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations as outlined by company policies and relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Assist in operating other equipment, such as skid steers and water trucks, as needed.
  • Follow MSHA and plant safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Complete other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Stable work history.
  • Experience in a plant environment is advantageous.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.
  • Capability to read equipment operating manuals.
  • Ability to complete pre-shift inspection reports.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting gauges.
  • Willingness to wear all required safety equipment.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with coworkers regarding vehicle and equipment movements.
  • Service-oriented mindset with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Commitment to performing duties safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders repeatedly.
  • Proficiency in using tools such as brooms, shovels, weed eaters, and wheelbarrows.
  • Capability to lift up to 100 lbs. from ground to waist level repeatedly.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and noisy environments.
  • Ability to work at different heights.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to operate hand/foot controls.
  • Good vision for depth perception at close range and distances up to 150 feet.
  • Ability to climb on and off equipment for operation and servicing.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and kneel in confined spaces.
  • Capacity to sit and operate equipment for extended periods, up to 10+ hours per day.
Working Conditions:

Work assignments may require outdoor work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, wet, or dry environments. Noise levels may reach up to 85 decibels.
