Job Summary

As an Occupational Therapist at Excelsior Orthopaedics Group, you will work closely with orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians to develop and implement treatment plans for patients with musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. Your goal will be to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability in a variety of patients, including pre- and post-operative, athletes, and individuals with occupational and other conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Review physicians' referrals and patients' medical records to determine the most effective treatment plan
Conduct thorough assessments of patients' strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency to develop or revise treatment programs
Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function, and instruct patients on various physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and the use of assistive devices
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including athletic trainers, to develop individualized treatment plans and achieve maximum benefit for patients
Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments as needed
Record treatment, response, and progress in patients' electronic charts and instruct patients and their families on treatment procedures to be continued at home

Requirements and Qualifications

NYS Registered Occupational Therapist
CHT highly preferred
2+ years of experience in a high-volume outpatient orthopedic setting, preferably with upper extremity experience
Experience with custom-made splints preferred
EMR experience required, MEDENT preferred

Physical Demands

This role requires working in a clinic/gym environment with considerable physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of objects up to 50 lbs, and standing for the majority of the shift.
