Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Operator I to join our team at Panhandle Milling. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate packaging of finished products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Package Management: Set up and monitor finished package weights to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Scale Maintenance: Set up packer scale weights prior to each run and check the precision of the check scale before starting production.
  • Quality Control: Continuously check finished package weights throughout the run and ensure that product is bagged, sealed, and palletized in a neat and organized manner.
  • Sampling and Analysis: Pull samples of product before and during production for analysis on equipment located in the mill control room.
  • Metal Detector Checks: Perform scheduled Metal Detector checks and notify supervisors of any substandard conditions.
  • Sample Management: Pull samples prior to production to ensure conformity to specifications and take samples during production as needed.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Clean and sanitize all packing and loading areas, including the hopper area above packers.
  • Product Re-Work: Feed product that did not meet specifications back into the system for re-work.
  • Training and Development: Assist in the training of new and existing personnel in packaging functions and positions.
Requirements
  • On-the-Job Training: Provided by the company.
  • Safety Training: Required and provided by the company in group settings and individual computer-based training.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, multitasking, and ability to read and write in English.
  • Work Schedule: Available to work flexible hours, evenings, weekends, and shift work may be required.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Straining, pulling, lifting, working, and standing and walking on concrete floors.
  • Environmental Factors: Exposure to noise, minable dust, cold and hot temperatures, extreme climate or climate variation, heat up to 100 degrees, and low to 40 degrees.
  • Equipment Hazards: Exposure to manufacturing equipment hazards, especially forklifts.
  • Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
