Job Overview

Position: - Registered Nurse - Compliance and Quality Improvement Specialist

Location: - Remote

Role Summary

  • This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Quality Performance Improvement and is tasked with ensuring adherence to various regulatory standards, including those set by Joint Commission, OSHA, FDA, and the Department of Public Health.
  • The specialist will coordinate activities related to disease-specific certifications from accrediting bodies, focusing on program development and educational initiatives to uphold compliance with regulatory benchmarks. This includes managing operational processes for data collection, analysis, and timely external reporting, as well as generating summary reports and maintaining communication with relevant hospital and medical personnel to identify and implement improvement strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay informed about current regulatory and accreditation standards, serving as a knowledgeable resource for clinical and medical teams.
  • Effectively communicate regulatory updates, hospital policies, and safety protocols.
  • Act as a liaison with external agencies for data submissions.
  • Research and adopt new technologies to meet data requirements and enhance quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Oversee special projects as assigned by management.
  • Achieve established goals and objectives in alignment with the organization's mission.
  • Participate in mandatory quality and safety training, demonstrating an understanding of responsibilities related to safety and hazards.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patient care, regularly reviewing compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with the education department to prepare and audit educational records, leading necessary outreach for disease-specific certifications.
  • Conduct disease-specific screenings and provide community education and support.
  • Update patient education materials as required.
  • Assist in the management of Quality, Safety, and Process Improvement programs.

Qualifications

Educational Background

  • Graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing program is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of three years of progressive experience in clinical healthcare is preferred, including at least one year of direct involvement in performance improvement initiatives. Familiarity with federal, state, and regulatory standards in performance improvement, accreditation, and licensure is essential.

Licensure and Certification

  • Must possess a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong critical thinking abilities, sound judgment, and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision are required. The ability to function effectively in a high-pressure environment is essential.
