Job Summary

Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, and physicians at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol buildings and grounds to deter crime and prohibited activities.
  • Intervene in disputes between individuals using verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Physically manage combative, violent persons who endanger staff, physicians, patients, or visitors.
  • Participate in property control procedures for patient valuables, accounting details, and morgue details.
  • Respond to emergency situations, emergency codes, and alarms.
  • Detain unauthorized individuals and release them to the proper authorities.
  • Assist air medical teams and transport airlifted patients between the helipad and hospital.
  • Control parking and traffic flow and enforce parking regulations.
  • Provide visitor and employee escorts as needed.
  • Report any conditions that might constitute a security or safety hazard.
  • Provide access control to restricted spaces by locking and unlocking doors.
  • Investigate and report on any suspicious activity or persons.
  • Obtain written or oral statements related to incidents on MHS property.
  • Prepare incident reports.
  • Assist local law enforcement agencies during investigations or emergencies.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalency required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of job placement required.
  • Valid Illinois driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in security, military, or law enforcement strongly preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, assess situations quickly, and physically perform sustained foot patrols and lifting patients required.
  • Ability to operate computer systems, including Microsoft Office applications, required.
