Job Description

The position of Chemistry Specialist is within our Toxicology business unit located in Pomona, California. This role will perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of biological specimens, conduct research to develop or improve analytical techniques, methodology, procedures, and investigate the application of instruments in analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate LC-MS/MS and GC-MS equipment (30%)
  • Assist with quality control and quality assurance practices (10%)
  • Update and modify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) (5%)
  • Conduct extraction and analysis of multiple matrices (30%)
  • Participate in proficiency testing (10%)
  • Screen and confirm outside-funded project samples (10%)
  • Prepare buffers and lab solutions (5%)
  • Exhibit professional behavior with internal and external business associates
  • Understand and be aware of quality consequences and device defects
  • Carry out duties in compliance with established business policies
  • Demonstrate commitment to the development, implementation, and effectiveness of Quality Management Systems
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
  • BS degree in chemistry, biology, or related technical field or equivalent experience
  • 0-2 years' experience in a laboratory and/or related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in using scientific notation to convert units of mass, volume, and molarity
  • Strong written and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • LC-MS/MS operation and maintenance
  • Product knowledge on medical devices or diagnostics
  • Database and laboratory software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project
  • Pipetting and sample handling
