Job Summary

As a Senior Surgical Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms. Under the direct supervision of our experienced surgical team, you will assist in preparing patients for surgery, maintaining equipment, and providing expert support during procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including positioning and preparing equipment
  • Maintain and check equipment for sterility, cleanliness, and functionality
  • Assist in setting up and using equipment during procedures
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery
  • Participate in meeting patient safety goals and promoting quality and safe patient care
  • Clean and maintain the operating room and assist in room turnover
  • Wash and sterilize equipment
  • Recommend guidelines for equipment use, purchase, and maintenance
Requirements
  • Minimum two years of current acute Operating Room experience
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Surgical Technology
  • Experience with minimally invasive, general, ENT, eyes, plastics, orthopedics, vascular, open heart-thoracic, spine, urology, GYN, podiatry, maxillofacial, and neuro surgery specialties
