Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on university-owned vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
  • Diagnose and repair complex problems with vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist with minor tune-ups and engine repairs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on University vehicles and maintenance equipment.
  • Diagnose and service A.B.S. electrical systems using special tools and scan tools.
Requirements
  • General education or vocational training in automotive repair or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and 75 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to work safely and be protected in areas with fumes or airborne particles and toxic and/or caustic chemicals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of wire repair, electrical schematic reading, and diagnosis of controls systems of recent model vehicles.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with tools of the trade with demonstrated competency.
Working Conditions

This position requires a physical. The physical requirements are:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and 75 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry 200 feet.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry up/down 30 stairs.
  • Ability to walk regularly for long periods of time across the campus.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use and reach with hands and arms regularly.
  • Ability to climb in high places using a ladder or balance frequently.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and crawl occasionally.
  • Ability to push or pull dolly loaded with up to 120 pounds for 300 feet occasionally.
