About the Role:
As an Operating Room RN, you will work under the general supervision of the ASC Director and OR Manager, with direct oversight from the OR Charge Nurse. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure patient safety within the operating room while assisting in the supervision of nonprofessional staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough assessments of patients to create tailored care plans based on collected data, observations, and interactions with patients and their families.
2. Develop and implement nursing care plans that include nursing diagnoses, patient goals, and necessary interventions to achieve optimal health outcomes.
3. Educate patients and their families to support their journey towards improved health.
4. Maintain accurate documentation of nursing activities to ensure continuity of care and uphold professional accountability.
5. Verify patient identity to ensure alignment between the patient, procedure, and surgical site.
6. Oversee the safe transfer and transport of patients to minimize risk of injury.
7. Position patients appropriately to enhance access to the surgical site while ensuring their comfort and safety.
8. Establish and uphold a sterile environment to mitigate infection risks by applying antiseptic principles and maintaining a sterile field.
9. Monitor patient conditions both physiologically and psychologically to maintain a safe environment for patients and healthcare personnel.
10. Coordinate necessary support services during surgical procedures by anticipating and communicating the needs of patients and the surgical team.
11. Collaborate with recovery room staff to ensure seamless continuity of care.
12. Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions by comparing patient outcomes with established goals.
13. Respond to emergency situations by executing life support activities and guiding team members as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
- Active Registered Nurse license in Washington State
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare providers (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within three months of hire
Preferred:
- IV skills or certification
- Minimum of two years of perioperative nursing experience, including scrubbing and circulating
- Proven track record of meeting performance standards for intraoperative nursing as per AORN guidelines.
Compensation and Benefits:
The hourly wage for this position ranges from $28.03 to $54.95, influenced by factors such as local labor markets, education, experience, and certifications.
