The Patient Service Representative (PSR) plays a crucial role in providing exceptional service to patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment and efficient registration processes.
Key Responsibilities
The PSR is responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Greeting patients and visitors with professionalism and warmth.
- Managing patient appointment scheduling and updates.
- Retrieving and organizing daily patient information for appointments and inquiries.
- Maintaining the schedules of healthcare providers.
- Handling medical records, including filing, copying, and purging as necessary.
- Collecting co-payments and processing office visit charges.
- Performing collections on outstanding balances.
- Coding encounter forms accurately with appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Filing and managing insurance claims.
- Reconciling charge sheets and preparing bank deposits.
- Ensuring accurate cash drawer management and credit card balancing.
- Reviewing and correcting discrepancies in reports.
- Executing closing procedures to maintain accurate account balances.
- Facilitating referrals and precertifications as needed.
- Preparing documentation for auditing purposes.

Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in data entry and database management.
- Ability to uphold patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
