About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Arts Education Specialist to join our team at the Multnomah Arts Center in Portland, Oregon. As a Recreation Leader - Arts Specialty, you will play a vital role in supporting arts education programs throughout the city.

Job Summary

  • Promote equity and inclusion in arts education by engaging with diverse communities.
  • Travel to various locations to provide arts education opportunities to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Work with partner organizations and the public to ensure equitable access to arts programs.
  • Provide guidance and training to recreation staff, instructors, and volunteers on arts program delivery.
  • Maintain arts studios and performance spaces with partner organizations.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as registration, scheduling, and technical support for community engagement programs.
  • Lead community arts education programs and support arts instructors in varied community settings.

Requirements

  1. Knowledge of current trends, techniques, and principles related to arts engagement and education.
  2. Experience teaching a variety of art-related and/or performing arts classes.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public, with an understanding of racial equity, anti-racism, and cultural sensitivity and responsiveness.
