Key Responsibilities:

The primary duty of the CNA is to ensure that residents receive the highest quality of care through various tasks, including:

  • Assisting residents with personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing needs.
  • Providing nourishment and hydration, including feeding residents and offering bedside snacks.
  • Responding promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance, adhering to facility protocols.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in resident rooms, including bed-making and tidying personal items.
  • Observing and reporting any changes in residents' conditions, including appetite and behavior.
  • Offering emotional support and actively listening to residents to foster trust and independence.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and privacy of all residents in accordance with facility policies.
  • Documenting medical records accurately for any assistance provided, following facility guidelines.
  • Complying with safety standards and infection control measures to maintain a clean work environment.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must meet specific educational and experience criteria, including:

  • A high school diploma or GED, unless working under a student permit.
  • Certification as a CNA in good standing by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH).
  • Transferring CNAs from other states may work for a limited time while awaiting Indiana certification.
  • Graduating CNA students may also work temporarily while awaiting certification.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with programs such as Excel and Word.
  • A solid understanding of safe and effective nursing practices within the State of Indiana.

Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, including:

  • The ability to assist licensed nurses with procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Capability to follow written and verbal instructions, work independently, and make sound decisions.
  • Personal integrity and tactfulness when interacting with residents, families, and staff.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Judgment in prioritizing tasks and responsibilities according to established standards.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information while adhering to Corporate Compliance and HIPAA regulations.
  • Patience, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm in working with residents of varying maturity and physical abilities.
  • Commitment to professional ethics and effective communication regarding residents' conditions.
