The Perinatal Care Specialist - OB Command Center plays a vital role at Northside Hospital in ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction. This position is responsible for monitoring fetal heart rate tracings and maternal vital signs, providing immediate notification of alerts, and participating in patient care planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review dashboards for alerts on abnormal vital signs and fetal heart rate tracings to ensure timely intervention.
  • Analyze and interpret fetal heart rate tracings with category II and III alerts, identifying specific parameters for intervention to safeguard fetal well-being.
  • Identify maternal vital signs within maternal early warning parameters, trending duration, and reviewing nursing documentation for appropriate intervention to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Complete log sheets accurately and thoroughly to maintain records of patient interactions and interventions.
  • Notify team leaders, charge nurses, and/or providers as necessary to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current RN license in Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  • A minimum of 2 years of full-time experience as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery, demonstrating expertise in perinatal care.
  • Completion of AWHONN advanced fetal monitoring courses every 2 years to stay up-to-date with best practices.
  • Current knowledge of uteroplacental perfusion, fetal heart rate physiology, fetal acid-base status, intrauterine supportive measures, and electronic fetal monitoring technology.
  • Certification in American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO).
