Agricultural Educator

We are seeking a highly skilled Agricultural Educator - Food Systems Specialist to join our team at Cornell Cooperative Extension. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with an estimated salary range of $58,000 - $70,000 per year.

• Develop and implement educational programs to promote sustainable agriculture practices and enhance the sustainability of agriculture infrastructure and farmland protection in Schoharie and Otsego Counties.
• Collaborate with local stakeholders, including agricultural producers, service providers, and community leaders, to identify needs and develop strategies to address them.
• Provide technical assistance and support to farmers and other stakeholders to improve their knowledge and skills in areas such as agritourism, value-added agriculture enterprises, and farm business management.
• Conduct research-based evaluations to assess the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations for improvement.
• Maintain accurate records and reports on program activities and outcomes.

• Masters degree in agriculture, agricultural business, agricultural economics, or related discipline, or Bachelors degree in agriculture, agricultural business, agricultural economics, or related discipline and 4 years transferrable relevant evidence-based research experience.
• Experience in agricultural outreach and education, preferably in Cooperative Extension or similar organization.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
• Ability to travel regularly within Schoharie and Otsego Counties, with occasional overnight stays.
• Valid New York State driver's license required.
