The Maquoketa Community School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic paraeducator to support our special education students in a self-contained classroom setting. This role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students and be part of a collaborative team.

About the Role:

This position will work under the supervision of certified teachers to provide academic and behavioral support to students with special needs. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a patient demeanor, and a willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one support to students with special needs in various settings, including classrooms and common areas.
• Assist teachers with data collection, lesson planning, and implementation.
• Monitor students during transitions and ensure their safety and well-being.
• Support students with daily routines, such as taking attendance, distributing materials, and facilitating small group instruction.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Patient and understanding demeanor when working with students with special needs.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software applications.

Compensation:

This paraeducator position offers a competitive salary range of $15-$20 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off and holidays.
