Job Title: Exceptional Education Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Exceptional Education Teacher to join our team at Todd County High School.

Job Summary:

The Exceptional Education Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs. This includes developing and implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, and collaborating with other educators and support staff to ensure student success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement IEPs for students with special needs
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Collaborate with other educators and support staff to ensure student success
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education
Requirements:
  • Degree in special education or related field
  • Valid South Dakota teaching certification with special education endorsement
  • Ability to work with students with a range of abilities and needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Working Environment:

The work environment for this position is a dynamic and supportive school setting. The Exceptional Education Teacher will work closely with other educators and support staff to ensure student success.

The physical demands of this position include standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The employee must also be able to push or pull carts and equipment as needed.

The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
