Job Summary

The Surgery Scheduler plays a vital role in the Center for Orthopaedics, coordinating surgical procedures and ensuring seamless communication between patients, physicians, and surgery centers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and schedule surgeries, follow-up appointments, and pre-operative testing.
  • Interact with patients, physicians, and staff to provide accurate and timely information.
  • Coordinate paperwork and documentation, ensuring compliance with physician and facility requirements.
  • Ensure efficient telephone communication and document work processes as required.
  • Complete pre-operative visits and paperwork with patients, ensuring appropriate documentation and consents are received and sent to hospitals/surgery centers.
  • Follow established protocols and procedures, demonstrating courtesy towards patients and their families.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management.
  • Book surgeries based on physician volume, maintaining standard turnaround times and identifying scheduling barriers to implement solutions.
  • Follow established surgery center/hospital precautions and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Follow up with patients after procedures to ensure appropriate healing per protocol.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
