Job Summary

Ascension is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team in Primary Care. As a Medical Assistant, you will assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Your responsibilities will include assisting with treatments ordered by the physician, performing select clinical duties, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Assist with treatments ordered by the physician as supervised by the physician or registered nurse.
  • Perform select clinical duties, including interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and recording information on patients' charts.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Perform basic clerical duties, including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
  • Perform basic materials management functions, including ordering and stocking of supplies.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Nat'l Medical Assistant (MA) Certification preferred - CMA (Cert. Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant)/AAMA Cert. (American Association of Medical Assistants). NCCT, AAMA, or AMT are acceptable certification sites.
  • Completion of Basic Machine Operators (BMO) cert. preferred.
  • Current registration with State of FL as a BMO Operator preferred.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note:
Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
