Position Summary

The Welder Fitter will be responsible for executing torch and plasma cutting tasks, as well as fitting, tacking, and MIG welding carbon steel in various joint configurations. The ideal candidate must hold qualifications for 2G and 2F welding. Responsibilities include utilizing shop equipment for cutting, punching, drilling, grinding, blasting, and painting as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret weld data sheets, procedures, operation travelers, prints, and verbal instructions.
  • Set up fixtures or layout for circular parts using a turntable or lathe.
  • Inspect parts visually to prepare for welding, ensuring the work area is clean of contaminants.
  • Verify dimensions to confirm parts meet specifications.
  • Prepare components for welding using appropriate measuring tools and techniques.
  • Employ temperature sticks to maintain specified heat and execute welds with proper penetration.
  • Deburr and grind excess weld material as necessary.
  • Repair defective welds by removing material and re-welding according to specifications.
  • Conduct torch and plasma cutting on carbon steel.
  • Utilize various measuring devices to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Manage material handling using cranes, dollies, and carts.
  • Organize and label tools and fixtures systematically.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to operational procedures.
  • Identify and address safety hazards in the workplace.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Team Leader/Supervisor.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Starting Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
  • Health and Welfare Benefits available after 30 days
  • Vacation, Personal, and Holiday Pay after 90 days
  • Immediate eligibility for 401(k)
Note: All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of background checks, drug screening, and required paperwork.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Proficient in using measuring equipment such as tapes, verniers, and calipers.
  • Certification to operate a forklift and use hoists for heavy parts.
  • Basic computer skills.
