Job Description:

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is seeking a skilled Construction Inspector to join our team. This role involves performing on-site construction inspections and monitoring construction operations to ensure compliance with work plans and contract specifications for major construction projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and inspecting construction projects, reviewing contractor work, monitoring construction progress, identifying potential issues, and providing detailed reports. They will also collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to address construction challenges and ensure quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect general building components and structure
• Monitor contractor's progress to ensure activities, milestones, and completion dates are achieved on schedule
• Collect information and draft documents for management action
• Review and validate payment requests to ensure compliance with actual work in place and the contract specifications
• Work with engineers and architects, consultants, and MWAA staff to resolve conflicts and concerns
• Verify materials and equipment delivered to the construction site comply with requirements
• Conduct inspection of work both in progress and upon completion to ensure an acceptable level of workmanship
• Create daily reports on construction status and progress and quality control/assurance

Qualifications:

• Seven years of progressively responsible experience monitoring, coordinating, and inspecting a mix of Building, Airport Terminal, Utility, Civil, and General Construction projects
• Knowledge of and ability to apply key regulatory requirements of the building trades and generally accepted practices of the construction industry
• Experience monitoring quality control processes and ensuring work meets contract specifications, industry standards, and project design intent
• Experience utilizing project management systems (e.g. Unifier, Procore, E-Builder)
• Expertise using Bluebeam Revu for document and site management documentation
• Ability to perform complex analyses of data and information and make recommendations
