Position Summary:


The Bridge Project Engineer plays a crucial role within a collaborative design team, focusing on the design, assessment, and restoration of both vehicular and pedestrian bridges. Responsibilities include the preparation of construction documents, engineering calculations, reports, project specifications, and cost assessments, along with providing technical oversight during the construction phase.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Collaborate with team members to address various design components, ensuring clarity and precision in objectives related to conventional plans, surveys, investigations, and structures.


2. Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including plans, specifications, and engineering estimates, while systematically collecting and organizing project data.


3. Assess, select, and modify standard methodologies, procedures, and criteria for project assignments, while effectively solving problems with appropriate guidance.


4. Plan and manage intricate aspects of engineering tasks, balancing multiple projects of moderate scale or segments of larger initiatives, ensuring efficient use of time to meet budgetary constraints and deadlines.


5. Assist in developing project scopes, tasks, budgets, and timelines.


6. Contribute to proposal preparations, including bid documents, project reports, and various forms of documentation.


7. Engage in project meetings, presenting specific elements of engineering assignments.


8. While nights and weekends are generally not required, flexibility may be necessary with minimal notice.


Qualifications:


- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.


- 2-5 years of experience in bridge engineering.


- Familiarity with FDOT design standards and AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications.


- Proficient in AutoCAD or Civil 3D.


- Experience with OpenBridge Designer or InfraWorks is a plus.


- Competence in MathCAD is preferred.


- Proficient in MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.


Essential Skills:


- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, management, and clients.


- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet critical deadlines independently.


- Capacity to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive client information.


- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced office environment under pressure.


- Proficient in English language usage, including spelling, grammar, and vocabulary.


Licensure:


- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.


- Florida Professional Engineer licensure or Engineer in Training (EIT) with the capability to obtain licensure within 36 months of employment.


Work Environment:


- The position is primarily office-based in a clean and comfortable setting, with occasional site visits in outdoor environments.


Physical Requirements:


- Regularly required to communicate effectively, sit for extended periods, and occasionally stand, walk, or lift up to 40 pounds.


- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.


Personal Protective Equipment:


- Adherence to client site protocols regarding personal protective equipment is mandatory, including gloves, hard hats, safety vests, and other necessary safety gear.
